Tuesday/Wednesday, October 2-3, 2012

Lauri slept in this morning, while I was up with the Boys as usual.  No rush to break camp today, because we are heading north about 2 hours to Monroe.  We plan to hook up with one of our very best friends, Eric, who has be a 24/7 RV'er for the past year and a half.  Not only do we want to see him, but there is no way we could be this close and be able to explain why we didn't let him know.

North on I5, to I405, to S542, to S2, to Monroe.  Pretty drive.

Monroe is a small mountain town that has grown lately to a larger than they really want town.  But even with the Taco Bell, Lowes, and a multitude of trendy restaurants, it continues to have that "Small Town" feel, especially in the downtown area.

The RV park, "Thunderbird Resort", is about 5 miles down a very picturesque windy road through farm land.  The "Resort" backs up to some river that I have no idea what the name is...  and cares less.  The sites near the river are open, meaning no trees. The sites (ours) in the hills are wooded, and very nice.  Our site is shaded and on a terraced hill.

Eric is a 35 year friend (that apparently has gone rouge...  look at that hair) that I met in Mammoth Lakes, California when I was stationed there working for Edison.  One thing that you learn as a "Party Animal", is to get close to the "Bar Tender".  The Bartender is the main guy...  the guy that can make, or break, having a good time.

Yep...  Eric was the bartender at the place our crew chose to frequent.  He and I became quick and very close friends. in-spite of his knack of providing "drinks on the house" quite often..  We have remained very close for all of these 35 years.  All of my kids call him "Uncle Eric".

It was good to see him again after a year and a half.

We had dinner both  nights and some great discussion.  It was like old times with he and I arguing about absolutely nothing.  WE LOVED IT! ! !
