Well, the 'ol Batman is off Chasing Storms.  In particular...  Tornadoes.

I will fly to Denver on Sunday, June 24, 2012 and return home on July 3, 2012.  For 7 days in between, myself and about 14 others will be chasing, chasing, chasing.  The Chase Company is "Tempest Tours Storm Chase Expeditions", located in Arlington, Texas.  During the "Tornado" season, they conduct 9 separate week-long tours.  I'm in 2012 Tour #9...  The last one of the season.  This is the same company that KABC's Dallas Raines has been using for the past several years.

My chances of seeing a Tornado "Touch Down" are very slim.  But if I do....  WOW!  What we will be looking for is the Cloud pictured to the right.  It's called a "Wall Cloud", and Tornadoes are born within it's structure.  I have been chatting (e-mail) with one of the drivers on our tour (he lives local here and we have been talking).  He told me that he has driven in 2 tours already this season (T9 will be his 3rd), and he has NOT seen a Tornado yet.  My chances are very slim, in deed.

However, that said...  my chances of seeing some great Thunder Storms, Lightning Storms, Some great scenery, and the Aurora (Northern Lights) are real good.  We will  most likely chase North to the Dakotas and maybe even Canada.  My Passport is packed and ready.

I'll wait to tell you about a "Typical Day" until I have one, but from what I can gather from past tour members (some do this every year), and some of the staff, we will be driving a lot, NOT sitting down to eat very much (fast food on the go and plenty of snack foods to get us through), and sleeping when we can.  Sounds like my kind of trip.
